Job Summary
The Investment Accountant supports the effective management of FSDAi’s group-level investment accounting and financial reporting processes, ensuring that investment transactions, valuations and income are accurately recorded in line with IFRS and organisational policies. The role provides timely, accurate and reliable financial information to support portfolio monitoring and management decision-making; ensures proper recording, reconciliation and analysis of investment balances; and contributes to high-quality consolidated reporting in a growing investment portfolio. Working under the guidance of the Manager, Treasury and Investment Accounting, the role provides finance input across the investment lifecycle while contributing to efficient investment accounting operations and strong financial controls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Investment Accounting & Financial Reporting
Support accurate portfolio accounting and group financial reporting for investments, including fair value measurement, income recognition, FX impacts, and audit-ready disclosures in line with IFRS.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all investment transactions, maintaining up-to-date accounting records for the investment portfolio.
- Maintain investment accounting in line with IFRS requirements, including fair value measurement, income recognition and foreign exchange translation impacts, ensuring compliance in reporting outputs.
- Prepare and support consolidated financial reporting outputs (monthly, quarterly and year-end), including portfolio performance, valuation movements and P&L analysis, providing clear, decision-useful insights for stakeholders.
- Support preparation of group management accounts and statutory financial statements relating to FSDAI investments, ensuring alignment with group reporting requirements.
- Work with auditors to provide investment-related schedules, disclosures and supporting documentation, and respond to queries on valuations and accounting treatments, ensuring audit readiness and timely resolution of issues.

2. Portfolio Monitoring & Analysis
Support post-investment monitoring through analysis of investee performance, impairment/ECL assessments, and delivery of timely, insight-driven portfolio reporting.
- Monitor investee financial performance and key metrics, identifying trends, variances and areas of concern, to support timely and informed portfolio oversight.
- Review financial information received from investees, ensuring reliability and alignment with reporting requirements.
- Analyse portfolio performance and support preparation of internal portfolio reports and management updates, providing clear, insight-driven outputs for decision-making.
- Support impairment assessments and expected credit loss (ECL) analysis where applicable, ensuring alignment with relevant accounting standards, to support accurate valuation and risk recognition.
- Work closely with the portfolio team to ensure financial performance and valuation assumptions are appropriately reflected in reporting, supporting consistency and integrity of portfolio information.
- Highlight emerging risks or performance issues, enabling proactive portfolio management and timely intervention.
3. Pre-Investment Finance Support
Ensure relevant finance inputs are provided during the investment process, supporting accurate structuring, analysis and decision-making for new investments.
- Provide finance input into proposed investment structures, including accounting treatment, classification of instruments and related implications.
- Review financial models and key assumptions to ensure consistency, accuracy and alignment with underlying investment terms.
- Identify and highlight key financial considerations, including tax implications, foreign exchange exposure and treasury impacts.
- Support preparation of financial inputs into Investment Committee (IC) materials, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information presented.
- Work with the investment team to ensure key financial assumptions and structuring considerations are appropriately reflected in analysis and reporting.
4. Investment Operations, Controls & Compliance
Ensure investment transactions, documentation and related processes are managed in a controlled, compliant and audit-ready manner, supporting strong financial governance across the investment portfolio.
- Ensure all investment transactions are processed in line with internal policies, approvals and supporting documentation requirements.
- Maintain complete, accurate and well-organised investment records to support reporting, review and audit processes.
- Liaise with banks, custodians and other counterparties to confirm transaction details and resolve discrepancies where necessary.
- Monitor key investment events, including disbursements, income receipts and maturities, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Support audit processes by preparing required schedules, documentation and explanations, and responding to queries in a timely manner.
- Identify control gaps or process inefficiencies and escalate issues, supporting continuous improvement of investment accounting and operational processes.

Requirements
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Qualifications and Education
- Minimum Bachelors Degree and 2 year of experience or Higher Diploma with 3 years of experience.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA or equivalent), completed or in advanced stages.
Essential Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, or audit.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS, particularly in relation to financial instruments and fair value measurement.
- Understanding of investment accounting concepts, including valuation, income recognition and portfolio reporting.
- Good understanding of tax implications in investment structures and cross-border transactions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial performance, valuation movements and key trends.
- Experience with accounting systems and strong proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate work with attention to detail and strong data integrity.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
Desirable
- Experience in Development Finance, Private Equity, Fund Management, or a similar investment environment.
- Practical exposure to IFRS 9 and IFRS 13.
- Working knowledge of taxation in an investment context (e.g., withholding tax, cross-border considerations).
- Experience working in multi-country or multicultural environments.
